A distinctive country home of character and style has been built at Malpas in Cheshire by an established property company and its specialist joinery division.
Shrewsbury-based Morris Property won the tender to demolish two unused old farm workers cottages on the site and construct the substantial detached house for private clients. The result is a quality, stylish home that combines a traditional Cheshire farmhouse look with high specification features suited to modern family living.
Designed to complement its rural setting, the house delivers the ‘wow’ factor both inside and out. Craftsmen from Morris Joinery worked in consultation with the property’s owners to supply all the external and internal joinery.
The project required external flush casement windows and French doors, an oak entrance porch and fully insulated vertically boarded doors with internal panelled cupboards and wardrobes.
The focal point of the house is a central staircase in prime grade European Oak, complemented by fine oak ledged and braced internal doors. Oak beams and posts and wood burners provide a traditional feel, as does the limestone flooring in the kitchen and the engineered oak flooring in the sitting room, study and snug.
Contemporary features like underfloor heating and open plan living have been employed with modern tastes in mind.
Landscaping works, including remodelling the garden, building a patio and retaining walls and providing new gates, completed the project.
