A £700,000 scheme to provide extra guest accommodation at a Shropshire activity centre has begun, with works due to be carried out over two phases to ensure the season can run smoothly.
Morris Property has started phase one of the project at Condover Hall Activity Centre, owned and operated by JCA, and is due to complete at the end of February. The second phase will start in November at the close of the activity season.
The new timber-framed guest block will be set across two floors, each comprising of six dormitory rooms, two teacher’s rooms and en-suites for each dormer. The accommodation block will allow the centre to sleep an extra 72 students and eight teachers during their residential trip.

“We have worked collaboratively with JCA to speedily agree an effective specification, design and contract sum which has allowed us to hit their target timescales.”
Condover Hall Activity Centre, run by national outdoor learning company JCA Adventure, is home to a number of indoor and outdoor activities ranging from high ropes and archery to orienteering and an indoor laser maze. The centre can be booked for school residential trips offering a choice of one-day adventures, two to four night multi-activity trips and weekend sporting tournaments.
Site manager and quantity surveyors for the scheme are Dylan Parker and Bob Heinemann respectively. Robert Hirst of GD Lodge Architects in Glasgow is the principal designer with Tier Consult appointed as Engineers for the project.
