Local contractor Morris Property has begun work on two new units at Hortonwood West where it has already completed three similar units.
The latest build at the development will see the creation of two multi-let start up units for Telford & Wrekin Council, with a value of over £2 million.
The two new buildings will be built opposite one another, with the first comprising of five units and the second ten units, with toilets and meeting rooms. The steel frame buildings will be clad and roofed using composite cladding panels and will include both pedestrian and roller shutter doors for easy access together with glazed areas to enhance the appearance externally and create a better working environment internally.
Externally, the build will include a large tarmac yard with designated car parking, footpaths and landscaped perimeter areas. A new road has also been built to allow access from the main Hortonwood West Business Park road onto the development.
James West, Chief Operating Officer at Morris Property, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to build the new unit at Hortonwood West and to continue delivering innovative solutions for both the site and Telford & Wrekin Council. We look forward to working with them again on this and future developments.”
Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Economic Development, said: “This is a really positive development of new business units which are as a result of the ground breaking Land Deal that the council has with Homes England and the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership.
“Under the Land Deal Agreement, any profit can be reinvested into sites or projects that will support the growth of the local economy.
“In this instance, the Land Deal Board approved the profit share to be invested in small business unit which are required for expanding businesses and start-ups. It will be the first time in at least two decades that we’ve developed new starter units.
“All of this combines to mean more investment into Telford, more growth for the local economy of Telford and more jobs for residents of Telford.”
The project will take approximately 26 weeks and is scheduled for completion in late September.
