Young bench joiner completes apprenticeship with Morris Joinery

Arran Johnson has completed his apprenticeship with experienced joinery specialists, Morris Joinery. After embarking on his apprenticeship journey in February 2022, Arran has consistently demonstrated dedication and a strong work ethic throughout his training.

During his two-year Level 3 ‘Carpentry and Joinery’ apprenticeship, Arran was commended with second place under the ‘Joinery’ category at SkillBuild2023, the largest multi-trade skills competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices.

His hard work and commitment have now been rewarded with an exciting new position as ‘Joiner Improver’ at the established Morris Joinery workshop in Bicton, Shrewsbury. In this role, Arran will have the opportunity to further refine his skills and gain valuable experience under the guidance of experienced craftsmen.

“We are incredibly proud of Arran’s achievements during his apprenticeship,” said Jamie Goffin, Workshop Foreman at Morris Joinery. “He has shown a real passion for joinery and a willingness to learn. We are delighted to have supported his development and look forward to seeing his skills develop further.”

Arran said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship with Morris Joinery. I’m excited to continue developing my skills in the Bicton workshop and contribute to the quality joinery work that Morris Joinery is known for.”

Arran’s apprenticeship was undertaken in collaboration with Shrewsbury Colleges Group, who work with local employers to provide opportunities for young people to gain practical experience and develop the skills necessary for a successful career in industry.
