National Careers Week #NCW2023

We’re celebrating National Careers Week, a campaign designed to help support young people in developing awareness and excitement about their future pathways. We caught up with some of our team members across our Morris & Company, Morris Property and Marrington Escapes divisions to find out more about their career paths so far.

Neil Anderson, Head of Estates (Morris Property)

Neil has worked as a Chartered Surveyor for over thirty years within the Property Management sector. When asked what he enjoys most about his job, he replied “The variety of the role. During my career, I have dealt with a diverse range of clients covering a wide range of properties from one-off trophy buildings, to portfolios of hundreds of properties. No two days are the same!”

His advice for others? Choose a career in an industry you are interested in. Property has so many facets and I have been fortunate to be involved with so many interesting properties and people. Careers only develop when you invest in yourself.

Bethy Jones, Accounts Assistant (Morris & Company)

Bethy has worked in the Finance industry for five years, and enjoys the steady structure of the role – working with a clear journey of tasks to complete. She stays motivated by ensuring that she has things to look forward to, and by working towards her qualifications.

Her advice for others looking to get into the Finance industry is to complete their AAT. Bethy says “Although you don’t have to attend university to do well in Finance, your final UCAS points do matter. I would say gaining experience and completing your AAT is the best way to get started.”

Philippa Bason, Property Manager (Marrington Escapes)

Philippa has worked within the Property industry for over 35 years and now works as Property Manager for our Marrington Escapes division. There are many factors that she enjoys about her job, including the “trust, independence, flexibility and variety”.

When asked about her advice for others, she says “Take that job. Experience is the best thing if you are interested in a field of work.”
