Hortonwood 45 team awarded ‘excellent’ rating from Considerate Constructors

Our team at Hortonwood 45 in Telford has achieved an outstanding score of 41/45 following a recent assessment under the Considerate Constructors Scheme. This prestigious accolade recognises the site’s commitment to the environment, local community, and workforce.

Hortonwood 45 is a £9.5 million design and build project creating a prime industrial/distribution warehouse scheme. The site’s Considerate Constructor status contributes to Morris Property’s strides towards achieving a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM accreditation. When achieved, it will become the only such building available in the local proximity. This rigorous environmental assessment method requires a holistic approach to sustainability, including community engagement and social responsibility.

The Considerate Constructor scheme is a voluntary initiative that sets benchmarks for best practice in the construction industry, encouraging companies to work beyond statutory requirements. To achieve the status, Morris Property benchmarked against the Code of Considerate Practice; a range of measures to minimize its impact on the local community and environment. These include:

  • Protecting the environment: Incorporating green open space into the development and implementing sustainable construction practices.
  • Engaging with the community: Establishing a positive relationship with local residents and businesses through open communication and consultation.
  • Prioritizing workforce welfare: Ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of all employees on site.

“We are delighted to have been awarded an ‘Excellent’ from the Considerate Constructor scheme at Hortonwood 45,” said Liz Lowe, Head of Development at Morris Property. “This recognition is a testament to our efforts to build responsibly and sustainably. We believe that by working closely with the community and prioritising environmental impact, we can create lasting positive change.”

Morris Property have been acquiring, building, restoring and leasing commercial property in the region for more than 100 years. Hortonwood 45 represents Morris Property’s clear commitment to continued investment in Telford and its appetite to acquire and develop oven-ready sites.
