Description
This exciting project will deliver 46 new flats at the North Staffordshire YMCA. The new Grace Crescent flats will provide ‘transitional housing’ for young people in the area, as they look to start a career and move to private accommodation.
The apartments will be contained within a four-storey traditional masonry building, with private access. They will each have one bedroom, with a separate bathroom and an open kitchen and living space. All but two of the apartments will have a south facing aspect.
The site sits alongside the current YMCA facility in Hanley which houses more than 100 young people and runs as a ‘youth campus’, rather than a traditional youth hostel. The campus offers young people a high standard of accommodation in a safe and supportive environment. YMCA staff offer education, employment opportunities and well-being advice, together with a wide range of creative and recreational activities.
We are also building a Youth Hub for YMCA North Staffordshire on a neighbouring site, which will provide various spaces, such as an art station, digital technology areas, and tranquil zones.
