Boarding Accommodation, Acton Burnell

Project Specifications

Description

We’ve been commissioned to construct a new boarding residence for Concord College. This project is a key component of the College’s master development plan, designed to provide modern facilities and accommodate the evolving needs of future students.

The new residence will significantly expand the College’s boarding capacity, offering flexible accommodation for both boys and girls.

The building will house 60 en-suite student bedrooms, along with separate living accommodation for boarding parents and tutors. To enhance accessibility, three ground-floor bedrooms with shower rooms will be provided with a nearby platform lift, providing easy access to all floors.

Maximising natural light and connection to the outdoors, the design incorporates full height glazing wherever possible. The exterior will feature a striking timber and zinc cladding facade, harmonizing with the College’s traditional aesthetic and the surrounding natural environment. Soft landscaping, including tree planting on a 3-meter bund, will enhance the building’s integration with the landscape.

Built under the Considerate Constructor Scheme, this project reflects our commitment to sustainable and responsible development.

Since its founding in 1949, Concord College has provided world-class education to students from around the globe. Situated on a stunning 73-acre campus in Acton Burnell, students enjoy ample green spaces, extensive sports and music facilities, and cutting-edge classrooms and laboratories.
