Shrewsbury School commissioned us to refurbish two of their boarding residences; Churchill’s Hall and Ingram’s Hall to improve and modernise existing facilities to create light, bright and comfortable living spaces for students.
Works included the deconstruction of an external, redundant fire staircase to create an open patio area which can be used for outdoor socialisation, the restoration of parquet flooring in the common room, the refurbishment of new bathroom facilities, the installation of a new kitchen, and fresh paintwork throughout.
In addition to the complete refurbishments, each boarding residence had a timber-framed extension added to accommodate increased boarding capacity and improve the flow of students. The works have enabled Shrewsbury School to meet the ‘boarding accommodation’ requirements of National Minimum Standards and will allow the school to continue to offer a high-quality boarding experience.
The work was conducted over an 18-month period, primarily during school holidays. Throughout the project, the team successfully liaised with Shrewsbury School to ensure that disruption to students was kept to a minimum.
