Charity
A key element of our CSR is to support local charities and organisations with both fundraising, donations and sponsorships and our staff's personal time and commitments.
As well as having a collective charity of the year, in Property our team raises money for local and national causes which are close to our hearts and minds.
Severn Hospice
Our chosen charity of the year for our collective fundraising is Severn Hospice. Last year we took part in the 2023 Dragon Boat Festival and Walk in our Shoes, alongside raising funds in-house with planned bake sales and sale days.
Charity football match
We had a fantastic evening playing football at Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation.
A huge thanks to everyone who turned out to watch Morris Property take on Salop Leisure Ltd. in our first charity football event of the year. The team are already looking forward to the next one.
Sailing for Severn Hospice
Last year, we sponsored a boat at Shrewsbury’s Dragon Boat Race to raise vital funds for Severn Hospice. Our teams from joinery, marketing, Marrington, legal and estates set sail as the ‘Morris Marios’. Whilst we were narrowly beaten by fellow rowers, our fundraising mission was a great success and we raised over £1000 to support the Hospice.
Jail or Bail for Air Ambulance
Members of our team braved a night in jail to help raise funds for Midlands Air Ambulance. Luckily colleagues, family and friends took pity and donated over £1.640 to get them out and helped the charity overall raise more than £24,000 on the initiative.
Reverse Advent Calendar
Thank you to all our teams for their kind donations as part of our Reverse Advent Calendar initiative in December.
We dropped the items off at Shrewsbury Food Bank where the team will organise and distributes parcels of donated food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items to individuals and families in our community.
St Chad's charity tree festival
With a little help from the younger Morris family members, we loved dressing our tree this year in support of St Chad's Christmas Tree Festival, which raises funds to support vulnerable people in the community.
Mos in Movember
Last year, a selection of ‘Mo Bros’ used the power of their moustaches to create conversation and raise funds for men’s health, in particular Prostate Cancer. By the end of the month the team had moustaches to rival Tom Selleck and raised an incredible £2,508.00!
NHS Christmas cheer
When we heard Shrewsbury’s NHS Maternity Unit needed a new Christmas tree and decorations as theirs had been damaged, we didn’t think twice about stepping in to help deliver the sparkle.
